Slipe Leased Primary & Infant School: Rebuilding While Learning Continues

After the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, Slipe Leased Primary & Infant School has officially reopened.

The rebuilding process is still ongoing.

Students are not back to normal learning conditions yet.

What’s happening now

  • The school is operating during active reconstruction
  • Students attend on a rotation system due to limited classroom space
  • There are not enough functional classrooms for full-day attendance
  • Temporary tent structures are being introduced to support learning during construction
  • Teachers continue delivering instruction despite these constraints

What the community is facing

  • Interrupted learning schedules
  • Limited access to consistent classroom environments
  • Ongoing recovery for families impacted by the hurricane
  • Strain on daily school operations, including meals and basic student support

What the community needs right now

We are focused on stabilizing the school while rebuilding continues.

Priority needs include:

  • Tents (to expand temporary learning spaces)
  • Teaching and learning materials
  • Non-perishable food items
  • Hygiene supplies
  • Clothing for students and families
  • 4-burner industrial stove (to support meal preparation for students)

Why this matters

You are helping:

  • Students access consistent learning, even in a disrupted environment
  • Teachers maintain instruction under difficult conditions
  • Families regain stability through the school system

Our focus

We are committed to:
