On March 29, 2026, Let Us SOAR hosted the Uplift the Community event in Seaview Gardens, bringing together residents, community leaders, government officials, and members of Jamaica’s entertainment industry for a day dedicated to community development, culture, and youth empowerment.
Among the distinguished guests were His Worship the Mayor of Kingston, Councillor Andrew A. Swaby, JP, and Member of Parliament Anthony Hylton, whose presence underscored the importance of investing in communities and recognizing individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to Jamaica.During the event, Let Us SOAR proudly presented Rodney “Bounty Killer” Price with the Generational Impact-Guardian of the Culture Award , recognizing his lifelong contributions to Jamaican music, philanthropy, community leadership, and his unwavering commitment to the people of Seaview Gardens and Jamaica.
Following the event, Let Us SOAR met with Mario, assistant to Member of Parliament Anthony Hylton, who shared that discussions were already underway regarding two significant civic honors for Bounty Killer: the presentation of the Key to the City of Kingston and the official naming of a street (Wenchman Road) in his honor.
Recognizing the historic significance of the initiative, Let Us SOAR immediately committed its support. Our founder personally visited Bounty Killer’s family home in Seaview Gardens, meeting with a member of his family to discuss the initiative and begin coordinating community involvement. From there, Let Us SOAR mobilized residents and supporters throughout the community, encouraging signatures in support of the public motion that would be presented to the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC).
Working in collaboration with Mario and the office of Member of Parliament Anthony Hylton, Let Us SOAR helped build community momentum behind the initiative, ensuring that residents and supporters had an opportunity to participate in recognizing one of Jamaica’s most influential cultural figures.
When the proposal came before the KSAMC Council, representatives of Let Us SOAR were present as Councillors debated and voted to approve the resolutions conferring the Key to the City of Kingston upon Rodney “Bounty Killer” Price and officially naming a street in his honor. Witnessing that historic vote was a proud moment for our organization and represented the culmination of months of community engagement and collaborative effort.As preparations continued for the official celebration, Let Us SOAR coordinated a special tribute featuring congratulatory video messages from respected artists, producers, broadcasters, and other members of Jamaica’s music fraternity. These tributes were presented during the official ceremony, allowing Bounty Killer to receive heartfelt recognition from many of the individuals whose lives and careers he has influenced throughout his remarkable journey.The presentation of the Key to the City of Kingston and the naming of Bounty Killer Boulevard stand as lasting tributes to a man whose impact extends far beyond music. His influence on Jamaican culture, youth, and community development has left an indelible mark on the nation.Let Us SOAR is honored to have contributed to this historic journey. From presenting the Guardian of the Culture Generational Impact Award, to mobilizing community support, collaborating with the office of Member of Parliament Anthony Hylton, attending the KSAMC proceedings, and coordinating the musical tribute presented during the official celebration, we are proud to have played a meaningful role in commemorating one of Jamaica’s greatest cultural icons.This milestone embodies the mission of Let Us SOAR: bringing communities together, preserving our cultural heritage, and ensuring that individuals whose service has transformed generations receive the recognition they deserve. Building on that legacy, Let Us SOAR proudly established the Rodney “Bounty Killer” Price Generational Impact Scholarship to ensure that his commitment to uplifting others would continue to inspire future generations. On July 3, 2026, during the Seaview Gardens Primary School Graduation Ceremony, the inaugural scholarships were presented in Bounty Killer’s name to two outstanding graduating students in recognition of their academic achievement, perseverance, and leadership. The scholarships, along with additional educational support provided by Let Us SOAR, represent a lasting investment in the future of Seaview Gardens and reinforce our shared belief that education is one of the most powerful ways to transform lives and strengthen communities.
